SUPERFAST VOUCHERS

Is your business struggling with slow speed broadband? Help to get you better connected may be here at last. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport have just launched the first phase of their long awaited Broadband Connection Voucher scheme under the SuperConnected Cities project. This scheme sees businesses that are struggling to get their hands on Superfast Broadband provided with vouchers towards the cost of installation of a Superfast service (30Mb+). The scheme has been launched in 5 ‘Super-Connected’ cities as a market test which will run until the end of September 2013. Following the results of the market test and proof that it is a valuable fund for Businesses the scheme will then be rolled out to a further 17 cities in the Autumn.

Eligibility

The first phase includes Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester and Salford. The Super-Connected cities that will be added to the scheme at a later date are Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Coventry, Derby, Derry/Londonderry, Leeds, London, Newcastle, Newport, Oxford, Perth, Portsmouth and York. If you live in an area where the voucher scheme is available you can find out if you’re eligible here: https://www.connectionvouchers.co.uk/are-you-eligible/ .

Process

You will need to go to your city’s super connected page which are all linked to on www.connectionvouchers.co.uk you can then apply using the forms available on each area’s website. As part of the process you will need to obtain quotes from 2 of their registered suppliers, you won’t be under any pressure to accept the cheapest just the one that suits your business needs the most. Why not make FastNet one of your chosen suppliers you’ll have the benefit of utilising our exclusively business network and our Award winning customer support. Although this scheme won't help everyone and indeed you could go as far as to say this will only help people that are already in a position to get Superfast broadband relatively cheaply, it is a step in the right direction. We hope that the feedback from the trial will open this up further to businesses that are in dire need of connectivity that will support their needs.
